I enrolled in my first photography class while attending UC Berkeley with a wonderful teacher and her dog named Kodak. My imagination was instantly captured and quickly turned into a zealous passion. I transferred to the great program at UCLA to further immerse myself in visual arts and design. Several pieces of my work were exhibited in the School of Design Art Gallery, and during my senior year, I became the official photographer for the School of Fine Arts. My black and white 30" x 40" enlargements even graced the walls of the Dean's Office. That same year some of my color fashion photos were chosen for a joint publication showcasing American and Japanese graphic arts students.
After graduation, I branched out from still photography and started my own film and video production company. For 20 years, our company produced award winning documentaries, commercials, informercials, as well as corporate and educational films.
Although intriguing and exhilarating, my true love and passion remained faithful to the still image.
After many years, I am once again immersed in capturing the world and all its incredible beauty, frame by frame. I venture out on a photo
expedition much as I would a spiritual journey, without agenda or pre-formed images in my head. My mind is open and receptive to guided inspiration. With eyes and heart wide open, I allow the subject to find me. I slowly walk around my potential image with utmost awareness surveying it from various angles, until I sense a resounding "yes"! I know when the lighting and composition resonate with my soul, and I snap the shot.
I am delighted to share my captured moments in time, my nature's abstracts with you. I offer them to you in the form of photographic blank greeting cards mounted on archival, acid free colored card stock or enlargements, either printed on traditional paper or canvas giclees. Zenshine Cards. I find great freedom and inspiration looking at life through a lens. Every place I go, every adventure I experience, I intend to capture unique images - each frame a brand new, unique perspective.
